Kojonup Working

Communities working together
to ensure our future

As part of our ongoing activities in the local community, Kojonup Working together with Kojonup District High School, has been part of the Working Communities Engaging Youth project set up to assist youth with career directions.

Together we hope to address some of the learning and employment challenges faced by youth in rural areas to ensure they are well prepared for their future, wherever it may be. We are excited about the potential this project has to influence policy and the way learning happens in small rural communities.

Kojonup Working and Kojonup District High School are collaborating in organising a “Parent as Career Partners” workshop at the School Common Room on Thursday 6th Nov 2008 at 5.30 and finishing by 7.00pm. The aim of the workshop is to provide parents with an understanding of the current work and training environment and with practical steps and ideas to assist them in helping their children with career planning.

This workshop will be beneficial to anyone soon to enter the workplace as well as those who are years away from working. Planning and obtaining knowledge of where to go to find information to plan an individual’s pathway into a career is essential, especially in today’s rapidly changing economic environment. All parents are urged to attend.

Free assistance with career planning and employment is available at the Kojonup Working Career Hub.  Parents and young people are invited to call in and see us on Wednesday or Thursday afternoons or leave a message for Dot or Vicki on 9831 0309 or kojonupworking@westnet.com.au to arrange an appointment.
